Urban cafés have to adapt their offer and services to the changing needs of their guests and neighbourhood throughout the day. People take their drinks and food with them, others meet friends or work. In addition to these different uses, the ingredients of a local and seasonal menu are subject to permanent change.
In this bachelor thesis, a small canteen/restaurant/bar is designed that addresses this constant change. A special focus will be placed on the processes of food preparation and the experiences of the guests. The design will be situated in a fictional location of a selected film.
Formally and constructively, a series of systems will be proposed, which are to be digitally described and adapted in terms of design. At the beginning of the project, each designer chooses a tectonic system that is to be produced digitally. Possible systems are, among others, timber plate folding structures, grid shells, cable nets, discrete blocks, beam structures, vaults.
