E-learning as a form of self-determined learning is a priority at the department of digital methods in architecture. Learning by means of tutorials enables students to learn at their own pace. It gives the possibility to repeat problematic content while skipping trivial parts. Especially when learning software, it is an important component for teaching, as it enables students to start their courses at an already high skill level.
In the seminars, there is thus scope for learning more challenging content without having to spend so much time on the basics.
This approach has become even more important due to the COVID-19 pandemic, dMA was able to approach the online semester 2020 with an understanding of the right balance between synchronous and asynchronous teaching content.
The video tutorials on the dMA YouTube Channel are the basis for many dMA courses. They are divided into skill drills, which are specially designed to provide the basics for taking dMA courses, and more general tutorial videos and lectures for independent further education. Part of the offer is the most watched German-language Grasshopper Tutorial on YouTube.
