Elective Courses
Silkscreen
This course offers an introduction to the printing technique of silkscreen. After an introduction to the basics of the technique and the printing workshop, participants will develop motifs which will then be transferred—either by gluing or via photo emulsion—and then printed.
Hardware
In spite of the unmistakable importance of digitization and the impressive possibilities it offers for architecture as well as other fields, the “old” world will never be replaced by new media as long as we still have bodies.
Notes in Stone
Petroglyphs are messages from a time long past. The creation of rock carvings, some of them as much as 3000 years old, required great effort, so that one must assume that their creation held an important cultural and religious meaning for those who produced them.
In the Picture
We will concern ourselves with the “camera obscura” (Lat. “dark room”) that led to the invention of photography. The camera obscura makes it possible to project a real-time image of an external space into a dark inner space.
From Scratch
This course focuses on teaching the technical processes and artistic possibilities of etching. Again and again, we’ll experience the exciting juxtaposition of what is accidental and what is planned.
For my part…
From the first depictions of hands in stone age cave paintings to the mass posting of largely stereotypical photos and videos in the so-called social networks of our time, the representation and modification of one’s own appearance at the intersection of personal affirmation and outside influence seems always to have been inseparable from the development of a person or personality.
Ornamentation and Variation in Squares
In this compact art course, we will deal practically and experimentally with the theme of ornamentation and variation, using self-designed and -produced ceramic tiles to create a wall or floor piece.
