Elective seminars
The Design of a Human
This course focuses on the close observation and understanding of the “figure in space” and the recording (via drawing) of these observations.
We will study the design of the human body, its proportions and weight when standing, sitting, lying, and in motion. Through drawing, we will observe the interaction between body and space.
Fabric, Stencil, Squeegee – Silkscreen
This course offers an introduction to the printing technique of silkscreen. After an introduction to the basics of the technique and the printing workshop, participants will develop motifs which will then be transferred—either by gluing or via photo emulsion—and then printed.
Fleeting Traces
In this seminar we will deal with the observation of movement in urban space. What happens? To what degree does our own movement (walking, standing, biking, etc.) influence our perception? Which visible and invisible traces exist, and how can they be captured?
Discovering
Our focus in this course is on the drawn observation of plants. To this end, we will take field trips to the Berggarten and nearby parks. There, we will use drawing exercises to selectively and precisely examine the vegetation found there.
Fictional Spaces — Building as Self-portrait
Using selected short stories by writers like J. G. Ballard, J. L. Borges, and Italo Calvino, we will investigate architecture in fiction as a starting point for an experimental artistic engagement.
Picturing Letters
The invented word “Bildstaben” (derived from “image” + “to spell”) contains the program of this course in a nutshell. We will investigate the possibilities of using the letters of our alphabet as a starting point for artistic works.
…we just want to play
“…he just wants to play.” Everyone who has unexpectedly been jumped on by a dog and reacted with shock has heard this sentence from the two-legged companion in question.
Harmless game or serious aggression?
